The Towering Inferno, 1974, Thriller
Plot: In an attempt to cut expenses on a building, drastic corners are also cut. The 135-story building catches flame and everyone inside is trapped.
Thoughts: This movie had a good mix of suspense and unintentional comedy. Paul Newman did what Paul Newman does: save people from danger and hunger. There were extremely funny parts, that I’m sure were meant to be taken seriously during that time period. OJ even made his cameo as “top-flight security” who can do everything that a trained firefighter can without the equipment.
I was sort of surprised that they allowed all of those people to die in the movie, which added to the suspense. This is a fun movie to watch if you want to be disengaged yet still enjoy something mind-numbing on the boobtube.
