Sarah’s Key, 2010, Drama
Plot: A woman investigates the 1942 capture and enslavement of Jews in Paris, primarily focusing on a young woman named Sarah who has seemingly made it through.
Thoughts: I watched an early screening of this film and I must say that it was very well done. Since it was an advanced screening, there was some issue with subtitles so we were all forced to watch the movie in French with no subtitles. But despite this hiccup, the directing and acting was done well enough that I barely missed a beat and still enjoyed the film. The shots phenomenal so my hats off to both director and Cinematographer. Fortunately, the last 1/3 of the film is in English, so at least all of the loose ends got tied up and parts were made clearer. The actors who spoke American were much less talented than those who spoke French, but it still doesn’t take from the film. This was a solid movie with a real look at the human experience and different walks of life.
